About this speaker

Rev. Nilse Furtado-Gilliam is a dynamic speaker and Christian educator. She has been the Associate Pastor at Clarendon UMC since July 2021. She was previously on staff as the Director of Discipleship Development. Nilse has vast experience across the spectrum of Christian education, course design, developing and directing programs for children and youth, leading teams, web design, and communications, just to name a few. Nilse was born in Brazil and speaks both Spanish and Portuguese. Her father is currently a United Methodist District Superintendent. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications, Rust College; a Masters in Journalism, University of Memphis; and completed her Master of Divinity degree in May of 2021 at Asbury Theological Seminary. Nilse has a 14-year old son and a 7-year-old daughter. Her husband, Sean Gilliam, is a chef and media producer.
